The Old Testament of the Bible
The Old Testament is the foundational first section of the Christian Bible, shared largely with the Hebrew Scriptures. It tells the sweeping story of God’s relationship with humanity—from creation itself to the history, struggles, and hopes of the people of Israel. Across its books of law, history, poetry, and prophecy, the Old Testament reveals themes of covenant, faithfulness, justice, and redemption. It introduces central figures such as Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and the prophets, each playing a role in the unfolding narrative of God’s plan.
